um... that%26#039;s bad.

You should find whoever sugared your gas tank and knock their teeth out.

fuel pump,check pressure
Reply:Do you know what the put in there?

If it was something like sugar.. that will just clog the fuel filter.. it won%26#039;t actually ruin the engine like many movies have made us think.

now if it was a liquid... you may have some problems.

I would check your fuel pump, and change the filter again.

Does it scorch or damage the pistons of an engine if i hold a medium rpm while spraying a fine mist of water?

down the intake? i was told this is an alternate method of cleaning carbon off piston and such.

DON%26#039;T put water in the intake. you don%26#039;t want water anywhere in your engine. Ever heard of water getting into a Cold air intake? It causes hydrolock, which is very expensive to repair, basically a new engine is needed. Don%26#039;t spray water in it.

I used to do this and never had a problem. the newer stuff I don%26#039;t know about. This was in the old days and we didn%26#039;t have all the crap on our engines like we do now.
Reply:Not a good idea.... the water can pit the pistons, and cause a significant amount of wear and tear.
Reply:Thats a horrible idea do not do it
Reply:just use fuel injector/carb cleaner

i have used a very small amount per gallon of acetone to get a boost even overdosed past what i should have on some derbys with impressive results i have done this for years to cleans the carbon away while slowley eating away at the rubber and seals but if you mix it wrong you can burn rods or worse

so im just going to say use fuel injector cleaner

if you put a cold liquid on a very hot the sudden change in temperature will cause the medal to crack(ie shrink and that may cause a crack)

goodluck
Reply:It does not hurt the engine to put a fine mist of water into it! In fact a lot of hyper perfomance cars with turbos and superchargers inject water and alcohol into an engine to cool teh intake charge for high boost high HP runs! What it can also do is steam any carbon deposits off the pistons and heads so teh car will run better. Of course too much water will hydro lock teh engine and damage it but too much is a alot of water very quickly not a fine mist.
Reply:It is an old school method or trickery as one might call it.

As liquids can not be compressed, the act of putting water down the intake of a running engine has a theoretical ability to dislodge built up carbon deposits.

But it can be harmful on hot engines.

The modern day method is to go buy a can of injector cleaner that you pour into you fuel tank.

It is much safer and as long as you spend more than $4.00 at a cheap store it will be good quality.

The other part to this is that modern engines when running correctly do no have much if any carbon deposits, even after 150,000 miles.

The deposits that one encounters now are more related to combustion process.

The advent of synthetic oils and detergent gasoline%26#039;s have created rather hard deposits that simple water will have little or no effect on.

You need to look for cleaners that have a high concentration of Techron in them.

If you are having problems with spark-plug fouling, you need to find somebody that can still ( READ ) a spark-plug and tell you what the deposits are being caused by.

Light Blue smoke on already rebuilt engine?

Just got the car, 93 toyota corolla, from this guy he rebuilt the engine and its letting out a light blue smoke, called the guy outta fear he said its prolly oil left but he said it should burn off is this true, has anyone heard of this? because i was reading though other questions and they mentioned that the answer is a rebuilt engine but i already have that, first car very confused and very broke lol
Light Blue smoke on already rebuilt engine?
Ok it takes some time for the rings to completely set and seal so it is possible for an %26quot;new%26quot; engine to smoke slightly. It can also be the ring gaps are alined so oil can be pulled into the combustion chamber and be burned. Then it will always smoke and burn oil and the person who rebuilt it is not too good at teh job.
Light Blue smoke on already rebuilt engine?
You should not have any blue smoke out the exhaust pipe or out the breather(where you add oil).
Reply:A freshly rebuilt engine will do this. But only for about the first 500 miles.

If the person doing the rebuild scrimped on parts, it could be burning oil due to too much engine slop.

Can%26#039;t say from here, but watch how much oil you are using, and that should tell you.
Reply:Blue smoke is oil and thats not good on a rebuilt engine. Have a compression leakdown test done and find out which cylinder(s) are leaking. Go from there.
Reply:You take that car back to where you bought it and demand a refund. No re-built engine should exhaust blue smoke - ever. Your pistons are worn or piston rings are bad, proboly not replaced. You have a bad re-built engine if re-built at all. Threaten to sue him in small claims court if he refuses to return your money. The proof is in the blue smoke. Nothing else will do this. If he insists he%26#039;s lying.
Reply:it might smoke a little until it gets broke in.

Auto body work?

Can i swap out my ac compressor without replacing any other parts of the system?

My a/c works fine but the bearing on the compressor is going bad and starting to squeal, so can i just replace the compressor without replacing the accumaltor or lines?

Can i swap out my ac compressor without replacing any other parts of the system?
If the compressor has %26quot;blown up%26quot; it could clog the orifice tube with small debris or harm the new compressor. If it%26#039;s just the bearing making noise then you should be fine in just swapping the compressor. You will have to add some oil as well as refrigerant, but perhaps only a couple ounces (of oil.)
Can i swap out my ac compressor without replacing any other parts of the system?
If you have R12 gas, then there are other costs, as you would HAVE to convert to R134A gas. That means a different lube, a new dryer, and new seals everywhere, as a parts minimum. Caution: do not allow moisture into system at any time, as it forms an acid with the gas/lube, and destroys the plumbing etc... Drain system proffessionally by flushing thru with CO2.
Reply:You can swap out the compressor providing there no contaminents has entered the system. I would like to adivse that if you are going to swap out the compressor, replace the acculumator/drier as well. It is a good common practice to replace those in pairs. The accumulator/drier is basically a filter for the freon and compressor lubricant.

Just had tires rotated, and my right rear tire makes a knocking sound when I slow to a stop...?

I have a 1998 Nissan Sentra and just got my tires rotated the other day. Since then my right rear tire makes a thumping sound when I apply the brakes and come to a stop...it doesn%26#039;t seem to make noises when I%26#039;m not applying the brakes. Could it be connected to the tire rotation? Should I demand that they check their work and fix it for free? Or is there an issue with the brakes?
Just had tires rotated, and my right rear tire makes a knocking sound when I slow to a stop...?
Your tires could have been cupped and by rotating them they are thumping. They might come out of it or you might have to replace them.
Just had tires rotated, and my right rear tire makes a knocking sound when I slow to a stop...?
Loose wheel lug. I doubt its more serious.
Reply:One other reason it could be thumping is that the people who put your tire back on didn%26#039;t tighten the lug nugs properly and the tire is coming loose--prior to coming off. I%26#039;d either check the lugnuts yourself or take it back in.

PS they should check it for free--they just did the work!

Also, noise from the wheels of your car tends to echo--it might sound from one side but actually be the other--so be careful to check all tires.
Reply:I would take it back to the shop and have them check it and explain the noise you are hearing they may inspect the brakes for free just to have a happy customer and if it is something they did then they should definitely take care of it for free.
Reply:Sometimes these %26#039;mechanics%26#039; are in too much of a hurry, and will %26#039;zip%26#039; your wheel back on with an impact gun, and not go in a tightening pattern. (Sorry about the run-on!) Can%26#039;t remember if your Nissan has four or five lug bolts. These need to be tightened in a pattern. Starting with one lug nut, and going to the opposite side, creating a star-like pattern as the lug nuts are tightened. Should one of these %26#039;techs%26#039; get in a hurry, or they don%26#039;t know what they%26#039;re doing, and just tighten in a circle pattern, it will warp your wheel! Plus they may not have gotten all of them tight, and your wheel wobbles, when the brakes are applied! Wasn%26#039;t doing it before this rotation of tires, right? Go down and kick sum booty! Okay,(lol!), not really! But take it back pronto, and ask what the heck is going on! You%26#039;re definitely not satisfied! This could get you, or an innocent person maimed, or killed.
Reply:you say it only does it when you put the brakes on?, pull the drum, it might be the brake shoe loose.

Will a 1995 Honda Passport transmission work in a 1995.5 Honda Passport?

I have a 1995 1/2 Honda Passport and the guy working on my transmission has told me it is near impossible to find a replacement. I ended up finding a 1995 transmission that matches the specs but I think the mechanic says he already had tried one and it didn%26#039;t fit. This sounds very strange to me and I%26#039;m hoping that someone will be able to help me out with some third-party knowlege.

Here is what I know. Both transmissions are manual and come from a V6 3.2ltr engine. The only difference is that the replacement was not from the half-year model.
Will a 1995 Honda Passport transmission work in a 1995.5 Honda Passport?
Go to car-part.com (that should tell you).

There may be some differences, like yours having a dip stick and the replacement does not.

It could be that the mechanic does not know Honda Passports. So he is stalling.

A Rodeo transmission should work too.
